Our Journey: From Dreams
Sandtricia Strickland grew up searching for her name on souvenir racks, rarely finding anything personalized just for her. That spark of wanting to belong led her on a path that began with a sewing lesson taught by her mom the day before a big interview. She quickly made her mark in Chicago's embroidery world, soon receiving specialty coats from across the nation when only her extra care would do. In 2000, with faith and $5,000, Sandtricia ordered her first embroidery machine, launching Essential Creations from her family home.
Years of dedicated teamwork - often with her husband and kids helping design and sell - helped the business grow into a trusted resource for both neighbors and national brands. Today, the studio stands proudly on 95th Street, creating custom pieces for the likes of SKIMS and the U.S. Olympic team, all while keeping Chicago community spirit at its heart.
